Willie James Smith

Willie James Smith, 70, a cherished member of the Aberdeen community, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Monroe Regional Hospital in Aberdeen, Mississippi. Born on September 10, 1955, in Monroe County, MS, Willie was known for his warm heart and generous spirit, making a lasting impact on the lives of all who had the privilege to know him.

Willie was the beloved son of the late Earnest Smith and Gracie Wright-Smith. He leaves behind a loving family that includes his daughter, Rochelle Johnson, and his brothers Earnest Smith and Frank James Smith. He was also a proud sibling to Ella Jones, Betty Jean Smith, Mary Smith, Linda Morgan, Rosie Smith, and Katie Davis. Each of these relationships brought him joy and fulfillment, providing him with endless support and love throughout his life.

To honor Willie's life, two meaningful services will be held at Belle Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen. A visitation will take place on Sunday, January 18, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life beginning at 2:00 PM. Friends, family, and community members are invited to come together to share memories and celebrate the legacy that Willie leaves behind.
