Willie Lee Holmes, 56, a beloved husband, father, and brother, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, in Woodland, Chickasaw County, Mississippi. Born on March 10, 1970, in Maben, Oktibbeha County, Mississippi, Willie lived a life marked by devotion to his family and deep roots in his community.
Willie’s journey began in Maben, where he was born to the late Lee Willie Holmes and Minnie Mae Wofford. Throughout his life, he embraced the values and teachings modeled by his parents, cherishing the bonds of family and friendship.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Chandi Holmes, who stood steadfastly beside him through life's joys and challenges. Together, they shared the joy of raising their children: son Jermiah Holmes, and daughters Alexiona Berry and Ashanty Holmes, each carrying forward his legacy with pride and honor.
Willie was also the cherished brother of Ira Holmes, Billy Holmes, James Holmes, J.B. Holmes, and Greg Posley. His sisters, Dorothy Watkins, Maggie Robertson, Rose Chandler, Peggy Hunter, Minnie Lee Holmes, Brenda Shotwell, and Thelma Armstrong, remember him as a loving and supportive sibling whose presence enriched their lives deeply.
Throughout his years, Willie Lee Holmes was known for his kind heart and generous spirit, qualities that endeared him to all who knew him. His contributions to his family and community will be remembered with reverence and gratitude.
A viewing/Memorial to honor Willie’s memory will be held on Sunday, April 5, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Belle Memorial Funeral Home, located at 216 Hwy 25 South, P.O. Box 129, Aberdeen, Mississippi, 39730. This occasion will offer a moment for family, friends, and community members to come together, celebrate his life, and find solace in shared remembrance.
Willie Lee Holmes’s life, though ended too soon, leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and family unity. His memory will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege to know and love him.
