It is with deep respect and heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Tommie Earl Coleman, Jr., 77, a beloved son, father, grandpa, and cherished member of the Amory community. Born on October 9, 1948, in Amory, Monroe County, Mississippi, Tommie passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Diversicare in Amory, MS.
Tommie Earl Coleman, Jr. was a man who held his family close to his heart. He was the devoted father of Shaun Coleman, his son, and his daughters, Latonia Coleman, Krisha Lathan, and Kailey Coleman. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Mary Coleman, for 45 years. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren: Whitney Williams, Joseph Freeman, and Jore'el Freeman. Their lives were greatly enriched by his love, guidance, and unwavering support. His legacy will live on in the hearts of these dear children, who carry forward the values and strength he bestowed upon them. Tommie is also leaves to cherish his undying memory, his beloved brothers: Harold Meaders, Kenneth (Linda) Meaders, and Kennedy (Shelia) Meaders; his sisters: Anna Hogan, and Jackie Meaders.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Tommie Earl Coleman, Sr., and Luenell Meaders, whose memories remain a treasured part of his story. Their influence helped shape the man he became, and Tommie’s journey through life was marked by the foundation they provided. He is also preceded in death by 2 brothers: Russell Avery and Willie Meaders, and 1 sister: Jean Jenkins.
Friends, family, and all who were fortunate enough to know Tommie are warmly invited to celebrate his life and legacy. The Memorial Gathering honoring Tommie will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM, with the opportunity for loved ones to pay their respects at Freewill Gospel Temple, located at 60024 Dobbs Drive, Amory, Mississippi. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM at the same location, allowing all in attendance to share memories, reflect on his impact, and find comfort in each other’s presence. Repast will be held after the services at Saint Paul Church Fellowship Hall, located at 1074 E. Avenue, Amory, MS 38821
Tommie Earl Coleman, Jr.’s life was one of dedication—to family, community, and the values he held dear. His memory will continue to be honored by those who knew him, and his spirit will forever remain alive in the hearts of his surviving children and all who loved him. As we gather to remember him, we do so with profound gratitude for the privilege of having shared in his remarkable life.
