It is with our heart-felt, most deepest condolences, that we announce the passing of Merritt Stanley Carr, 71, on Friday, April 5, 2024 at the VA Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
Stanley is preceded in death by his father, Archester Carr and his mother, Leomia Merritt Carr. He is also preceded in death by one son, Marcus T. Carr.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories, one daughter, Amber S. Carr and one sister, Debra Cunningham.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at New Hebron Missionary Baptist Church beginning at 10:30 AM.

Merritt Stanley Carr was born December 6, 1952, in Okolona, MS, to the late Archester Carr and Leomia Merritt Carr.  He accepted Jesus Christ at an early age, and joined New Hebron M. B. Church, Egypt, MS.  On April 5, 2024, "Stan" entered into eternal rest at Dallas VA Medical Center.

He was a 1970 graduate of Fannie Carter High School, Okolona, MS.  He continued his studies at Jackson State University, Jackson, MS, actively serving in the Army ROTC program.  On August 13, 1973, Stanley enlisted in the US Army.  He completed Basic Combat Training at Fort Polk Louisiana and served the majority of his military tour of duty near Frankfurt, Germany.  With a Specialist 5 ranking, on August 6, 1976 he received an Honorable Discharge.  After extensive electronics and mechanical training in the US Army, his career consisted of jobs in that related profession.  As a Field Engineer, he installed and serviced various types of chemical and medical equipment.  His customers truly respected his work.  They would call to request him because they knew he would diagnose the problem first and repair it correctly next.  Though his career caused him to travel throughout the United States, DeSoto/Dallas, TX remained his home base.  Stan, like his late maternal grandfather Bennie B. Merritt, always had an interest and an eye for photography.  He started Carr's Digital Photography in Dallas, TX in the late 90's.

Loved ones who preceded him in death:  parents, Archester Carr (August 15, 1986) and Leomia Merritt Carr (April 22, 2012); son, Marcus Terrell Carr (June 25, 1988); half-sister, Dottie Sue Moore.  Stan's loving, witty, charismatic and temperamental personality will be remembered by:  daughter, Amber Shawnee Danielle Carr, Magnolia, TX; sister, Debra Ann Carr Cunningham, Glen Allen, VA; uncle, Dr. Robert L. Merritt (Thelma), Aberdeen, MS; special friends...Ellane Rowe Flemings(former wife, mother of Marcus), Aberdeen, MS; Debra Daniels Carr(former wife, mother of Amber), Magnolia, TX; Derrick (Kim) Taylor (son), Johnson (Joyce) Price, and Lorenzo Brown, all of Dallas, TX; and a host of relatives and friends.
