Spencer Tyanece "Shine" Eckford

Spencer Tyanece "Shine" Eckford, 67, born on May 21, 1959, in Aberdeen, Monroe County, Mississippi, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, in his hometown of Aberdeen. His life, rooted in the fabric of this community, touched all who had the privilege to know him.

Spencer, affectionately known as "Shine," was the cherished son born to Willie Ed Eckford (Father) and Annie Doss (Mother). His journey through life was marked by character, resilience, and an abiding connection to his roots in Aberdeen. 

Throughout his years, Spencer remained deeply committed to the community that raised him. His friendships and connections were built on respect and kindness; those who encountered him often found themselves greeted by his warmth and sincerity. Always guided by principle and a strong moral compass, he drew upon his upbringing in every facet of his life.

To honor Spencer’s life and memory, a Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Daniel Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1516 South Matubba Street, Aberdeen, MS 39730. Following this gathering, a burial will take place at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, 515 MS HWY 8 West, Aberdeen, MS 39730.

As we commemorate the years Spencer spent among us, we remember an individual whose presence brought light and meaning to this community. His absence is keenly felt by all who were fortunate enough to share in his journey. May his memory serve as a source of comfort and inspiration for those who mourn his passing.
