Sally Mae Verner, 75, a cherished daughter, beloved wife, devoted mother, and adored sister, passed away on October 24, 2023, at the University of Alabama Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama. She was born on August 9, 1948, in Aberdeen - Monroe County - MS to her loving parents, the late William Keaton and Betty Lou Willis.
Sally Mae was known for her unwavering love for her family and friends. She had a heart full of kindness and a spirit that touched the lives of all those around her. Her warm smile could easily brighten even the darkest of days. Sally's dignified and compassionate nature made her a true beacon of light in the lives of so many.
She was joined in holy matrimony with her beloved husband, the late Olen Verner, who provided unwavering support throughout their incredible journey together. Their bond was built on a deep love and mutual respect that served as an inspiration to all who knew them.
Sally Mae was a phenomenal mother to her sons Darren Keaton and William Verner. She poured every ounce of love, care, and tenderness into raising them. Her unwavering dedication and sacrifice will forever be treasured by her children. She instilled in them valuable principles of compassion, strength, and perseverance that they carry with them today.
Sally Mae was also blessed to have remarkable siblings who brought immense joy and laughter into her life. Brothers, John Wesley Keaton, Tommie Lee Keaton, and Sister, Betty Jean Keaton were not only siblings but also lifelong friends who shared countless memories together. Through thick and thin, they stood by each other's side like a rock.
Throughout her life, Sally Mae cultivated connections that enriched her life profoundly. She had a heart for others and often went out of her way to extend kindness to both friends and strangers alike. Her love knew no bounds, leaving an indelible mark on all those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her.
In honor of Sally Mae's extraordinary life, a visitation will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023, from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM at the Mount Zion MB Church located at 40154 Caledonia Road, Hamilton, MS 39746. Friends and family are welcome to come together to pay their respects and share stories of cherished memories.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at the Hamilton High School Gymnasium located at 40201 Hamilton Road, Hamilton, MS 39746. The service will commence at 1:00 PM. This will be a time for loved ones to gather as a community and celebrate the incredible life that Sally Mae lived.
