Palmer Lee Mayes, 67, a devoted husband, father, and a proud veteran, passed away peacefully in Aberdeen, Mississippi, on Saturday, October 19, 2024. Born on June 7, 1957, in Queens, New York, Palmer lived a life characterized by service, love, and an unwavering commitment to his family.
Palmer proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he developed sense of discipline and resilience that defined his character throughout his life. After his military service, he settled in Mississippi, where he built a fulfilling life surrounded by loved ones.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jeanette Knott-Mayes, their three children, Lincoln Mayes, Robert Mayes, and Shaniece Mayes. Palmer was deeply proud of his family, supporting and encouraging them in every endeavor.
In honoring his memory, family and friends are invited to a Visitation on Friday, November 1, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Saint Peter United Methodist Church, located at 503 MS Hwy 25 South, Aberdeen, MS. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 2, 2024, starting at 1:00 PM, also at the church.
Palmer Lee Mayes will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and the lasting impact he made on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His spirit lives on in the hearts of those he loved and who loved him in return.
