Ollie Jean Hamilton, 72, a cherished member of the Athens community and a dedicated cook at Taco Bell, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. She was born on November 1, 1952, in Aberdeen, Monroe County, Mississippi, where she lived her entire life, nurturing countless friendships and family bonds.
Throughout her career at Taco Bell, Ollie Jean was known not only for her culinary skills but also for her warm spirit and willingness to bring joy to those around her. Her delightful personality made her a beloved figure among customers and colleagues alike. Her contributions went beyond just preparing food; she fostered an environment of camaraderie and hospitality.
Ollie Jean was a devoted mother and wife, leaving behind a legacy of love and strength through her family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Willie James Hamilton, and her sons: Tony Curtis Hamilton, Terry Darnell Hamilton, Kevin Lee Hamilton, and Eric Eugene Hamilton. In addition, she is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Chastity Hamilton and Sequita Jones. Her sisters: Ruby Simpson and Joann Ruff.
Ollie Jean was preceded in death by her father, Ollie Betts, Sr., and her mother, Laura Mae Smith-Betts. Their enduring influence shaped her life and the values she instilled in her children, establishing a foundation of love and support that will continue to resonate within her family. She was also preceded in death by one son: Larry Hamilton; two brothers: L.C. Betts, "Jack", and Ollie Betts, Jr.
A visitation at Belle Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, located at 807 108TH Street, Amory, MS. The community will gather to celebrate Ollie Jean's life on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Smith Chapel Holiness Church, located at 50068 Burr Road, Aberdeen, MS, with services starting at 12:00 PM noon.
