Maurice Barr, Sr.

Maurice Barr, Sr., 67, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. Born on June 19, 1957, in Okolona, Mississippi, Maurice was a man whose warmth and kindness touched the hearts of all who knew him.

Maurice is survived by his devoted wife, Brenda Walker Barr, and his two cherished sons, Maurice Barr, Jr. and Zachary Barr. He was a loving brother to Jimmie Barr, Larry Barr, and Wayne Barr, and proudly shared his life with his sisters, Della McIntosh, Virgie Buckingham, Loretta Braylock, Letha Ivory, and Linda Barr. Maurice's family was his greatest joy, and he delighted in the moments shared with them, always striving to create lasting memories.

He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Dana Quinn, and is now reunited with his parents, James O. Barr and Alice Rowe-Barr, both of whom played significant roles in shaping his character and values.

In honor of Maurice's life, the family will hold a visitation at Belle Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Mississippi, on Friday, May 16, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life at Zion Spring Missionary Baptist Church in Okolona on Saturday, May 17, 2025, starting at 12:00 PM..

Maurice Barr will be remembered for his generous spirit, unwavering integrity, and love for his family and friends. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him.
