Mary Alice Hampton also known as "Nook" was born March 12, 1947 to the late Mr. Morris L Patterson and Mrs. Lorene Patterson in Chickasaw  County.

Mary Alice attended Houston High School.  She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Union Baptist Church . At UBC  she served as a Deaconess, Sunday School Secretary and choir director in which she was very  devoted until her health begin to fail.  She  enjoyed cooking, sewing, shopping, singing, and spending time with her family.

On March 18, 2018, The Lord called Mary Alice home to Glory!   She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Rosemary and Alice Faye Taylor; one grandson, Frederick Taylor; one brother, John "Ike" Patterson, and brother in laws; Charles Henderson,  Jessie Moore, and Clisby Randle.

Mary Alice leaves to cherish her memories: A loving husband of 17 years Lugene Hampton and one loving and devoted daughter, Mary Ann (Steve) Smith, all of McCondy, MS;  four grandchildren; Dewayne (Teri) White of West Point, MS:  Myesha, Tre and Kerria all of Vardaman, MS; four great grandchildren; Dewayne, Terica and Alice all of West Point, MS and Tre of Vardaman, MS; eight siblings; Louis Harris of West Point, MS; Willie (Brenda) Patterson of Atlanta, GA; Lois Randle of Indianapolis, IN; Irene Evans of Houston, MS; Georgia Henderson and Harold Patterson both of McCondy, MS;  Rev. Jimmy (Sandra) Patterson of Detroit, MI and Lee (Ruth) Patterson of Prairie, MS; a nephew that was like a brother, Rev. Runney (Hope) Patterson, Sr. of Woodbury, MN; one uncle, Roger White of Ripley, MS and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
