Margie Ann Smith - McPherson, of Aberdeen, Mississippi, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at River Place Nursing Facility in Amory, Mississippi. She was born to the union of Jimmie Lee Smith, Sr., and Cora Bramlett - Smith on April 19, in Aberdeen, Monroe County, Mississippi, and her passing marks the conclusion of a life rooted in community and defined by resilience.
Margie’s journey began in the heart of Aberdeen, where she cultivated meaningful relationships and developed the unwavering strength for which she would become known. Margie was a History Teacher with the Columbus Municipal School District, a member of Heroines of Jericho, AKA, and Church Historian. She loved Poetry. Throughout her life, she remained deeply connected to the place of her birth, dedicating herself to those around her. Margie was regarded for her grace, dignity, and an enduring spirit that enriched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Her legacy is carried forward by those whose lives she touched through her compassion and character. While details of her specific accomplishments and milestones are not provided, it is evident from her cherished community ties and her presence in the hearts of many that Margie’s life leaves an indelible mark. Margie leaves to cherish her memories, one son, David J'Horace McPherson; two daughters, Cora McPherson Givens and Daisie McPherson; three brothers, Leon Smith, James Arthur Smith, and Bobby Smith.
A visitation honoring Margie Ann Smith - McPherson will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Belle Memorial Funeral Home, 216 Hwy 25 South, Aberdeen, MS. Family, friends, and community members are also invited to attend a Celebration of Life in her memory, to be held on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 335 North Franklin Street, Aberdeen, MS. Her burial will follow at Oddfellows Rest Cemetery - East, located on Whitfield Street, Aberdeen, MS, on July 5, 2026.
Margie Ann Smith - McPherson will be fondly remembered and dearly missed. Her commitment to her community and the strength she demonstrated throughout her life remain an inspiration to all.
