Makayla was a beloved daughter, cherished by her father Dennis Gates and her mother Kathleen Cunningham, both of whom survive her. Her departure has left an indelible void in their lives and in the lives of her extended family and community.

A visitation to honor her memory will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, located at 121 County Road 181, Okolona, MS 38860. This sacred time will allow friends and loved ones to pay their respects and celebrate Makayla’s life and the enduring legacy she leaves behind.

Immediately following the visitation, a Celebration of Life service will take place at the same location, beginning at 1:00 PM. This solemn yet uplifting event will provide an opportunity to reflect on Makayla’s journey through life, her character, and the moments that defined her existence.
