Lucy Dell Pruitt

Lucy Dell Pruitt, 95, a beloved member of the Amory community, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 1, 2026, in Amory, Mississippi.  Born on June 17, 1930, in Mississippi, Lucy dedicated a significant portion of her life to serving others, most notably as a custodian at the Amory Library. Her unwavering commitment to her work reflected her deep-rooted values of diligence and respect for the community she cherished.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, Odtis Swanigan and Beatrice Gilleylen, who instilled in her the importance of hard work and compassion. These values not only shaped her character but also resonated through her interactions with her colleagues and those she served.

A visitation to honor Lucy will take place on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM at the West Amory Church of Christ, located at 202 111TH Street, Amory, MS 38821. Following the visitation, a Celebration of Life service will commence at the same location, starting at 1:30 PM. This gathering will provide friends, family, and community members with an opportunity to share cherished memories and to celebrate the remarkable life that Lucy led.

Lucy Dell Pruitt will be remembered for her kind spirit, tireless work ethic, and the warmth she brought to everyone around her. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
