Larry Barr, Sr.

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Larry Barr, Sr., 60, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend. Born on June 12, 1965, to the union of James Oliver Barr and Alice Lee Rowe-Barr, in Monroe County, Mississippi, Larry's journey came to a close on Thursday, April 9, 2026. His departure leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.

Larry lived a life rooted in love, family, and community. He was a source of strength and kindness to those around him, embodying the spirit of generosity and warmth that endeared him to so many. His presence was a constant comfort, and his memory will forever be cherished by those fortunate enough to have crossed his path.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Murdies Reese Barr, whose partnership was a beacon of support and unwavering love. Larry was a proud father to his son, Larry Barr, Jr., and his daughters, Raven Barr and Ebony Taylor, each of whom carries forward his legacy in their lives and hearts.

Family ties extended further through his brothers, Jimmy Barr and Dewayne Barr, who stood by him in life's moments, both big and small. His sisters, Della McIntosh, Loretta Braylock, Virgie Buckingham, and Letha Ivory, also survive him, recalling a bond that was unbreakable and filled with cherished memories.

The community is invited to gather and pay their respects at the visitation to be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM (Family) and 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM (Public) at Belle Memorial Funeral Home, located at 216 Hwy 25 South, PO Box 129, Aberdeen, MS 39730. This time will offer family and friends the opportunity to come together, share stories, and honor Larry's life.

A Celebration of Life service will follow on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Zion Springs Missionary Baptist Church, 295 County Road 182, Okolona, MS 38860. This will be a heartfelt occasion for all to reflect on the impact Larry had on their lives, to find solace in one another, and to celebrate the enduring spirit of a man who touched so many.

Larry Barr, Sr.'s legacy lives on in the love he sowed, the laughter he inspired, and the countless lives he touched. Though he is no longer with us in person, his spirit remains a guiding light, a reminder of the warmth and compassion that defined his life.
