Josephine Harris

Josephine Harris, 70, affectionately known as "Josie" (nee Bean), passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Erlanger Health System in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was born on March 19, 1955, in Bruce, Calhoun County, Mississippi, and lived a vibrant life that touched many.

Josie's family was of utmost importance to her. She is survived by her three beloved sons: William Arthur "Russell" Harris, Jr. of Chattanooga, Tennessee; Joseph Q. "Jojo" Harris of Chicago, Illinois; and Michael D. "Mickey" Harris of Lincoln, Nebraska. Her daughter, Alice M. Johnson, also resides in Lincoln, Nebraska, bringing warmth and love to their shared memories.

Josie was a cherished sister to her brothers Joe Louis Townsend, Tommy Bean, Bruce Bean, and Kerry Bean, and she held a special bond with her sisters Henrietta Rosemond and Maxine Booker. Together, they forged a legacy of love and support that will continue to resonate through their lives.

Sadly, Josie is preceded in death by her parents, Gerald Bean and Alice Montgomery, whose guidance shaped the incredible person she became. She also mourned the loss of her sisters, Lula Mae Kelly, Betty Anne Smith, and Genella Bean, along with her granddaughter Jierra Harris.

A visitation for friends and family will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life beginning at 12:00 PM at the Belle Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce, Mississippi. This gathering will provide an opportunity for all to remember and celebrate Josie’s remarkable life and her everlasting impact on those who knew and loved her.

Josie will be remembered not only for her nurturing spirit but also for the joy and laughter she brought to her family and friends. As we gather to honor her memory, we are reminded of the beautiful moments shared and the legacy of love she leaves behind.
