It is with our deepest sympathy that we announce the passing of Rev. Jimmy Wayne Pounds, 73 of Aberdeen, MS at his home on Thursday, August 28, 2025.
Rev. Pounds was a member of New Providence M.B. Church in Tupelo, MS. He pastored Cannan M.B. Church in Columbus, MS for 29 years. He was known for his song writing, singing, and organ playing skills, where he played for several churches in the area over the years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Pounds, one son, Korah Pounds, two brothers, John Pounds (Cordova, TN}, James Pounds (St. Louis, MS), and one sister, Mary Marion.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 5, 2025 from 5-7 p.m.. at Canaan M.B. Church in Columbus, MS
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 2 p.m. at New Providence M.B. Church in Tupelo, MS
Burial will follow in New Temple Cemetery in Dorsey, MS
