Jean Leigh Whitfield, 67, born on June 16, 1959, in Amory, Monroe County, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital ~GT in Columbus, Mississippi. Her life was one marked by devotion to family, commitment to service, and an enduring strength that touched all who knew her.

Jean was a proud daughter of Mississippi, shaped by the warmth and traditions of her hometown. Throughout her life, she exemplified resilience and compassion, always extending a hand of friendship and care to those around her.

A distinguished chapter of Jean’s life was her service in the United States Army, where she demonstrated immense courage, integrity, and a steadfast dedication to her country. She is deeply mourned by her brothers, Charles Whitfield, James Whitfield, Johnny Whitfield, and Edgar Whitfield, as well as by her sisters, Castella Wall and Eula Whitfield. The family invites friends and loved ones to honor Jean’s memory at a memorial service to be held on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. The service will take place at Belle Memorial Funeral Home, located at 807 108TH Street, Amory, MS 39730.
