James Edward Wallace, 79, affectionately known by many as "Water Bug," left this world on Friday, February 20, 2026. Born on August 9, 1946, in Aberdeen, Mississippi, he made the most of his time on earth, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
James dedicated much of his professional life to being a truck driver for Ed Northington of Sulligent, Alabama, where he showcased his deep passion for driving and the open road. His career not only served as a means to provide for his family but also enabled him to connect with countless individuals along his route, earning their respect and admiration.
Throughout his life, James was an enthusiastic man whose interests spanned from hunting and cars to racing and classic Westerns. One might often find him engrossed in a John Wayne film or planning his next outdoor adventure. His love for life was palpable, and he embraced every moment with joy and enthusiasm.
James was a proud Master Mason, a role that reflected not just his dedication to the Masonic principles but also his commitment to community and brotherhood. This accomplishment was a testament to the values he cherished and lived by.
He is survived by his loving son, Terry O'Neal (Crystal) Wallace, Sr., and his daughters, Teresa (Frank) Price, Rosalind (Anthony) Gettis, and Donna (Robert) Smith. James found great joy in his family, and they were a source of pride and happiness in his life.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Annie Mae Wallace, and his beloved children, who have passed on before him: Frankie Wallace, Sherri Wallace, and Brenda Dobbs. James is also preceded in death by his parents, J I Wallace and Vennie Mae Brown, who undoubtedly shaped the man he became.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at Victory Temple Outreach Ministries in Amory, Mississippi, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life service starting at 1:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to come together to honor and remember James—his journey, his passions, and the love he shared with those around him.
James Edward Wallace will be missed dearly, but his spirit and legacy will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
