Hurschel Lee Nelson was born December 10, 1946 to Laurine Hazzle and the late Hermon Nelson. He confessed his faith and hope in Christ at an early age, and united with St Paul Baptist Church.

Hurschel attended West Amory School where he graduated in 1966. He then worked for Muller Brass for many years.

Hurschel united in holy matrimony to Bertha Nelson in 1967, to this union they shared three children, two daughters and one son. He was preceded in death by; his father, Hermon Nelson; his son, Anthony Nelson; and gradson, Willie McMillian.

He leaves to lovingly remember and treasure his memory; Mother, Laurine Hazzle at Grand Rapids,MI; two daughters, Terri Nelson and Sherry Nelson Patrick(Kevin) of Amory,MS; three sisters,Linda Scott(Jack) of Grand Rapids,MI, Pearl Beeks of Amory,MS and Mary Morris of Atlanta,GA; four brothers, Billy Ray Carter of Amory,MS, Lee Hazzle of Kalamazoo, MI, Don Morris of Atlanta,GA, Roy Hazzle of Aberdeen,MS; five grandchildren, Chris Nelson, Jeremiah Nelson, Mackenzie Patrick, and Brayden Patrick all of Amory,MS; two great-grandchildren; three nieces and two nephews; a special cousin, Anna Wallace; two special friends, Linda Standifer and Clyde Whitfield; and a host of other relatives and friends.
