IN LOVING MEMORY OF HERRON POE

December 7, 1939 ~ August 12, 2026

Herron Poe, 86, a beloved son, father, and member of the Aberdeen community, departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at the Care Center of Aberdeen in Aberdeen, MS. 

Born on December 7, 1939, in Aberdeen, Monroe County, Mississippi, to the union of Amanda and Glenzy Poe.  Throughout his life, Herron was surrounded by family, friendship, and love.  His presence became an important part of the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him, and his memory will continue to live on through the generations he leaves behind.

Herron was the devoted father of five children:  Delphine Poe, Niesha Poe, Earl B. Wigfall (Anita), Zondra Craver, and Yvette Wigfall.  His legacy also continues through his beloved grandchildren, Ray'Kyla Anderson and Camden Poe.

He also leaves to cherish his memory his sisters, Dorothy Jean Robertson and Carrie Bell McMillian; his brothers, Lee Ray Poe (Shirley), James Poe, and Arthur Poe; and his special friend, Francine Anderson.  Herron will also be lovingly remembered by his many cousins, nephews, nieces, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were touched by his presence.

Herron was preceded in death by his wife, Earlyne Poe; his parents, Amanda and Glenzy Poe; his daughter, Yvette Wigfall; and his siblings, Peter Poe, George "Bo Pete" Poe, Glenzy "Blue" Poe, and Beatrice Poe.

Although Herron has departed from this earthly life, the love, memories, lessons, and moments he shared with his family and friends remain.  His life is a reminder that a person's legacy is carried forward through the people they loved, the relationships they built, and the memories that can never be taken away.

As his family gathers to honor his life, they do so with gratitude for the 86 years they were blessed to share with him. Though his physical presence will be deeply missed, Herron Poe will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Rest peacefully, Herron.  Your journey on earth is complete, but your memory and legacy will live on.

Friends and family are invited to honor Herron Poe’s life and legacy during services to be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Ebernezer Missionary Baptist Church, located at 20257 MS HWY 8 West, Aberdeen, MS 39730. A visitation will take place at the church from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., providing an opportunity to gather in reflection and remembrance. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 p.m., as loved ones come together to pay tribute to Herron’s memory and the many ways he touched their lives. Herron will be laid to rest at Ebernezer Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Herron Poe’s warmth, strength, and enduring love for his family will be dearly missed but always remembered by all who knew him. As those who loved him gather to say their final goodbyes, they take comfort in the life he lived—one marked by dignity, gentleness, and compassion.
