Gloria Mhoon

 Gloria Mhoon, 79, was born on December 5, 1946, in Calhoun City, Calhoun County, Mississippi, to the union of Jesse AL Mhoon, Sr., and Margaret Dumas Mhoon.  Gloria went on to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the Avenue Nursing Rehabilitation Facility in Macedonia, Ohio. 

Shortly after graduating high school, Gloria and her two younger brothers relocated to Ohio, residing with their dad.  She worked as a short-order cook at Open Pantry.  Shortly thereafter, Gloria started working at Mr. Coffee and was one of the top drillers in the entire plant until work-related injuries forced her to retire after 15 years.

Gloria had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing gospel music, cooking, helping others, and spending time with family.

Gloria joined the Union Grove Missionary Baptist at a young age.  After moving to Ohio, she joined Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Twinsburg, faithfully serving on the Usher Board and singing in the church choir.

Gloria was the oldest of 8 siblings and was preceded in death by her younger brother, Clovis Mhoon; a set of twin boys, Early Mhoon; and her sister Jacquelin (of Texas).

Gloria is survived by one younger brother: Jesse Mhoon, Jr.; two sisters: Glenda and Stephanie;  one nephew, Jesse Mhoon, III; two nieces, Maria and Shria Mhoon; three great-nieces: Krystle, Kelly, and Jerina; and one great-nephew: Andre Mhoon; three great-great-nieces: Jernie, Makayla, and Navaeh; four great-great-nephews: Amare, Brian, Andre, and Josiah; and a host of cousins and special friends.

A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for Sunday, July 12, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church located at 500 MS Highway 9 in Calhoun City, MS 38916.
