In Loving Memory of Dorothy Mae Donaldson

With heartfelt love and cherished memories, we honor the beautiful life of Dorothy Mae Donaldson, 72, who passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2026, at Monroe Regional Hospital in Aberdeen, Mississippi.  Born on December 6, 1953, in Gibson,  Monroe County, Mississippi, Dorothy,  who was affectionately known as "Shump" lived a life filled with love, kindness, devotion, and precious memories.

Mrs. Dorothy was the cherished daughter of Oscar Garth, Jr. (Father) and Elsie Doss (Mother), both of whom preceded her in death.  She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marvin Donaldson; her brother, Robert Garth; and her four sisters, Alice Fields, Oscarene Bowens, Nadine Pulphus, and Diane Blanchard.

She is lovingly remembered by her two sons, Marvin L. Donaldson and Ken Hatchett; her beloved granddaughter, Madreona Donaldson; and her sisters, Lula Collins and Elsic Harrison.  She also leaves behind a host of family members, friends, and loved ones who will forever cherish her memory.

Throughout her life, Mrs. Dorothy was known for her nurturing, loving, and gentle spirit.  Her presence had a special way of lighting up a room.  She found happiness in doing even the smallest things for others, especially for her family and those she loved.

Mrs. Dorothy had many passions that brought joy and beauty into her life.  She loved flowers, sewing, painting, and visiting family and friends.  Many may not know that she was a talented seamstress for many years.  Sewing was more than a skill for Dorothy; it was a gift that allowed her creativity and loving spirit to shine through.

Mrs. Dorothy's legacy will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.  She touched countless lives with something as simple as a smile, a few kind words, or simply her presence.  She had a special way of making people feel cared for, loved, and welcomed.

The memories she leaves behind will forever be a source of comfort to her family and friends.  We will remember her loving heart, gentle spirit, beautiful smile, and all the little moments that made her so special.

Though she may no longer be with us, the love she shared will continue to live on through her family and everyone whose life she touched.  Her presence was a blessing, her memory is a treasure, and her love will remain in our hearts forever.

Family, friends, and all who were touched by Dorothy’s presence are invited to gather in her memory. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Belle Memorial Funeral Home, located at 216 Hwy 25 South, PO Box 129, Aberdeen, MS 39730. The Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Mount Nebo Missionary Baptist Church.  A burial service will follow at Mount Nebo Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 10053 Hale Quarters Road, Aberdeen, MS 39730, on Sunday, August 23, 2026.
