Deacon William Parks passed away on May 16, 2023, leaving behind a remarkable legacy. He was born on March 5, 1940, in Monroe County, and his passion for family, faith, and humour shaped his life.

Parks earned a reputation as someone who could fix anything - from small engines to carpentry. He worked at Vista Chemical Company in Aberdeen until he retired as a chemical compounder. But that was just the beginning of his accomplishments.

He was active in his community and church as a trustee for Mid South Diocese Church of the Living God. His love for teaching was evident through his Sunday school lessons. He was also part of the Seven Sons Quartet and sang many songs to inspire and uplift others.

Apart from his professional and religious affiliations, Parks was also passionate about fishing and reading books. Fishing trips with loved ones are memories cherished by those closest to him.

Parks' sense of humour was infectious, which made him more endearing to everyone he interacted with. His faithfulness and kindness touched people's hearts, making him one of the most loved individuals in town.

Most importantly, Parks will be remembered as a committed family man. Surviving him are his wife Pastor Mammie Parks, three sons - Dewayne Howell, William (Ban) Parks, and Timothy Parks - three daughters - Marion Parks-Herron, Angelia K. Parks-Wilson, and Kathy L. Parks - one brother - Walter Frank Parks - along with three sisters Gloria Faye Harris, Dearn Gholston and Marion Ruth Parks.
