David Lee Sprowell, Sr., 79, was born on December 29, 1946, in Monroe County, Mississippi. He passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, leaving behind a legacy marked by steadfast love, commitment, and a profound connection to his family and community.
David was the beloved husband of Connie Peterson - Sprowell, who stood faithfully by his side through every chapter of life. Together they built a family that was always at the center of David’s heart. He was a devoted father to his son, David L. Sprowell, Jr., and his daughters, Reginia Townsend and Chaunta Holliday. David’s role as a husband and father was shaped by his deep sense of responsibility and care, guiding his family with wisdom and unwavering support.
Born to Woodrow Sprowell and Mary Lou Brown - Dobbs, both of whom preceded him in death, David grew up instilled with strong values and a respect for tradition. The lessons and love from his parents remained a guiding force throughout his life, and he honored their memory in the way he lived and loved.
David’s memory will be cherished by his surviving family members, who will carry forward his legacy of steadfastness, kindness, and compassion. His influence endures in the lives he touched, especially those of his beloved wife, children, and all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life service will be held to honor David’s memory on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Hamilton High School Gymnasium, located at 40201 Hamilton Road, Hamilton, MS 39746. Following the service, David will be laid to rest at Sardis Cemetery, 40008 Amber Cove, Hamilton, MS 39746.
David Lee Sprowell, Sr. will be remembered with deep affection and respect. His legacy continues not only in the hearts of his family but in the community that mourns his loss and celebrates all that he gave during his lifetime.
