Deacon David Lamont Hadley, 77, known affectionately by friends and family as "WaterDog," passed away on Monday, August 19, 2024 in his beloved hometown of Amory, Mississippi. Born on October 8, 1946, in Amory, he was a dedicated member of the community and a passionate athlete, whose contributions to sports are fondly remembered.

Deacon Hadley enjoyed a vibrant career in football, playing with the Amory Wildcats, the Alcorn Braves, and later in the professional football league with the Kansas City Chiefs. His impact on the field was notable, showcasing his talent and love for the game. Beyond his athletic prowess, he was well loved for his warm personality, strong character, and unwavering faith.

He leaves behind his devoted wife, Eva Carolyn Rogers Hadley, who stood by his side throughout their journey together. He is also survived by his cherished daughters: Donna Kay Middleton, Allison Hadley, Gernita White, and Rhonda Cox. His legacy continues through his brother, Gregory Hadley, as well as two sisters, Letha Hampton and Mary Ann Beaty.

Deacon Hadley was preceded in death by his father, Grover Lee Hadley; his mother, Mary Alice Meaders; his daughter, Pamela Yvette Hadley; his brother, Richard Hadley; and his sister, Willie Mae Hadley. While his loss is deeply felt, his spirit endures in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A visitation will be held in his honor on Friday, August 23, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Belle Memorial Funeral Home located at 807 108th St., Amory, MS 38821. Following this, a Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Victory Temple Outreach Ministries, starting at 2:00 PM, located at 1200 Victory Temple Drive, Amory, MS 38821.

Deacon David Lamont Hadley will be remembered not only for his athletic achievements but also for his profound impact on his family and community, embodying the true spirit of love and kindness throughout his life.
