Bobby Ray James, 73, beloved father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. Born on July 8, 1953, in Aberdeen, Monroe County, Mississippi, Bobby, whose legacy spans decades of love for family, the outdoors, and his community, was a cherished son of John James, Jr. and Ladie Mae Eddie - James.

Throughout his life, Bobby was known for his devotion to family and the joy he found in nature. A true Mississippian at heart, Bobby’s passion for fishing and hunting enriched his days and became a source of shared joy among those closest to him. These hobbies were not just pastimes but a way for Bobby to connect deeply with the world around him, fostering memories that will endure for generations.

Bobby is also survived by his six devoted children: sons Noris Barker, Marcus Barker, and Allen Walker, and daughters Taneshia Barker, Tiffany Barker, and Tara Hudson. Each carries forward his values, his strength, and his enduring sense of humor, holding close the lessons and moments they shared with their father. Bobby also leaves behind his loving siblings: his brother John James III, and his sisters Brenda Ewings and Marie James. Their bond was lifelong and steadfast, a testament to the importance Bobby placed on family.

While Bobby’s passing leaves a significant void in the hearts of those who knew him, his warmth, resilience, and love will remain as guiding lights for his family and friends. He is fondly remembered for his welcoming spirit and quiet wisdom, always eager to share a story by a riverbank or over a shared meal.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation to be held at Belle Memorial Funeral Home, 216 Hwy 25 South, Aberdeen, MS on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. A Celebration of Life will follow at New Hebron Missionary Baptist Church, 20154 Egypt Road, Aberdeen, MS, on Saturday, July 18, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Bobby will be laid to rest at New Hebron Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
